The Beauty Newletter

Beautiful Website of the Month
Skin by Alison Raffale definitely deserves our Beautiful Website of the Month award. Why? Because it's one of the most beautifully designed websites out there. Easy to navigate, pretty to look at, beautiful products. What more could a girl ask for?

Monster's 2004 Zeal To Win Employee Award

Top 5 Runner-Up
"
I would like to nominate Jessica Bergeron. She is not only an employee that lives the "Zeal to Win" value, but all of the other Monster values. Jess is a Sr. UX designer on the Gov Solutions team. As her colleague - and her cube-mate -  I witness her dedication to her job, her team and the customer every day (and she does it with a smile!) Jess is NEVER afraid to stand up for what she believes in especially when it comes to the customer experience. She has a breadth of knowledge that goes beyond her excellent designs skills.
Working on the government team, she has the challenge of making sure the monster brand is integrated into the work. At the brand summit on Monday, June 21st, I met some of Jess's "customers" and they raved about her work but more importantly, her dedication to her job. She's a great asset to Monster and a great representation of integrity and innovation.
Please consider her when choosing the winners!" TRACY AHERN

Monster's Employee of the Week

"On Jan 13 [2004], we launched the new design for USAJOBS and StudentJobs. Throughout the USAJOBS Recruitment OneStop project, Jess has delivered innovative design in a proactive fashion to significantly contribute to the success of the $62M project. The new design (which can be seen at www.usajobs.opm.gov) balances hip contemporary design with federal colors to achieve a perfect balance. The use of large images representing the diversity of federal employees and their roles creates a friendly, intimate jobseeker experience - and makes the site stand out from all other job sites. Jess' creative talents also extended the same branding to www.studentjobs.gov using the same design elements yet with the unique studentjobs color scheme. A great team player, a can-do attitude, and a passion to break new ground - the new design Jess created and implemented has already drawn rave reviews from folks in government and jobseekers." Judging Beauty, Inside Out
For winter, a host of fashion designers like Prada and Tuleh added surprise visual punch to their clothing by using richly printed fabric linings. Now, cosmetic counters are picking up on the idea with packaging designed to be pretty inside and out.

The clean two-toned cartons for Kate Spade's body products have a bright rose chintz print on the inside, while blotting tissues by Skin Alison Raffaele come in a solid plum packet that folds back to reveal a pattern of Spirographs. A bar of soap by Red Flower slides out of a red cardboard container lined with a watercolor pattern of clasped hands; Shu Uemura's skin care collection is encased in an austere white carton that unfolds to reveal Japanese brush-stroke graphics, top center.

And when Sundari recently changed its skin-care packaging, the inside of its boxes had the vivid print of an antique Indian rug, which, according to the company, was chosen "to represent the importance of internal beauty." Not to mention the importance of internal legalities; in order to use the pattern, Sundari first had to purchase the rights to the actual rug from Christie's, the auction house. ELLEN TIEN
